Avocado

The Bundaberg Region is one of the largest avocado growing regions in the country, producing more than 78 million individual avocados annually.  Central Qld growing region supplies 21% of national production and one of only 2 growing regions of Shepard avocado. 

Fun Fact –  When the Aztecs discovered the avocado in 500 BC, they named it āhuacatl, which translates to “testicle.” It is likely that the texture, shape, and size of the fruit, as well as the way it grows in pairs, inspired the name of the avocado.

The region is home to the largest vertically integrated, growing packing and processing chilli facility in Australia, the carolina reaper variety is grown in the region and is the hottest chilli in the world (holding the world record)
