Wide Bay Burnett Horticulture Economic Report 2024–25
Horticulture is a cornerstone of the Wide Bay Burnett economy. To better understand and communicate the industry’s contribution, Bundaberg Fruit and Vegetable Growers Limited commissioned an independent economic analysis of the region’s horticulture sector for 2024–25.
The report found that the Wide Bay Burnett is home to more than 2,000 horticultural farms producing over 40 different crops. In 2024–25, the industry contributed more than $1.386 billion to the region’s Gross Regional Product and supported 4,392 direct jobs and 12,548 seasonal jobs.
These findings provide clear evidence of horticulture’s importance to our regional economy, workforce, communities and future prosperity. BFVG will use this information to strengthen industry advocacy, support investment and ensure the needs of growers remain visible to decision-makers.
