Applications are welcome from job seekers who wish to gain employment in the Agriculture Industry.
Applications require a response for each selection criteria point, applications received that do not meet this requirement will not be considered for the opportunity.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Candidates must provide a current resume with a minimum of 2 contactable references
- Candidates must provide a cover letter detailing other skills and experience that may be of benefit to them in an employment scenario in Agriculture
- A current drivers licence and reliable vehicle, where a candidate does not have a vehicle details of how they will manage transport to harvest sits
- Must be prepared to provide a detailed Police History Check prior to employer activities (ie: work experience placement)
- Must be able to pass a drug & alcohol test prior to commencing employer activities (ie: work experience placement)
- Have completed the Farm Safety induction training
- Have participated in either a face to face or virtual information session

COURSE DETAILS
This training is designed for individuals looking to start seasonal work in the sugar cane industry as a haulout operator. It provides hands-on, competency-based learning with industry trainers. Participants will gain basic skills in operating high-horsepower, air-conditioned tractors towing hydraulically operated tipping trailers or roll-on/roll-off bins with a gross vehicle mass over nine (9) tonnes. Training is conducted using real equipment in active sugar cane harvesting operations, ensuring practical experience in an industry setting.
Aligned to Certificate II in Rural Operations, participants will be trained to industry standard and be competent in:
- operations of a cane haulage vehicle
- workplace health & safety associated with sugar cane harvest work
- effective work practices and workplace communication
- practical (hands-on) experience with tractors
- machinery and maintenance of machinery
LICENCING REQUIREMENTS
Licence classification (with no restrictions) for operating haulout units:
- if the haulout unit is registered as a truck – the driver will need the appropriate truck licence for the type of truck they are driving
- mobile machinery (specially constructed vehicles) are driven on a C Class licence
