Following recent discussions and agreement with the Bundaberg Regional Council, a new compound at the South Kolan Transfer Station (Birthamba Road) now provides increased opportunities for local farmers to deliver their cleaned, eligible ag and vet drums to drumMUSTER.
Bundaberg Regional Council now has sites at Qunaba, Meadowvale, South Kolan, Childers, Booyal and Tirroan Waste facilities.
In conjunction with the Impact Make Your Mark depot in University Drive Bundaberg, and the free on farm pick up service for large numbers, local farmers have the best opportunity in Queensland to participate in the program. The Qunaba Landfill now receives drums without the need for an appointment and this is also an added plus for farmers.
The opportunities to recycle drums for council residents is probably the best in Australia”, said Colin Hoey, drumMUSTER Regional Consultant in South Queensland. “Council has been very supportive in establishing sites that are readily accessible and this model is proven to bring results”, drumMUSTER’s Colin Hoey said. The booking number for the free on farm pickup for over 200 empty clean drums has recently changed. Please call 4155 3411 in future to access this service.
50,000 containers were recycled in the Bundaberg Regional Council area in the 2008-09 year and this year that figure may be beaten with an effort from all farmers in the next three months.
Further information may be obtained from Bundaberg Regional Council on 1300 883 699 or Colin Hoey on 0428 964 576.
